Killer Queen a fost primul mare succes al formatiei, ajungand pe locul 2 in clasamentul Marii Britanii. Si nu degeaba... Linia melodica este originala, dinamica si stralucitoare, iar performanta vocala a lui Freddie este memorabila, vocea lui devenind, pe acordurile acestui cantec, subtire si delicata, precum femeia pe care o descriu, cu umor si inspiratie, versurile.

Textul surprinde cu o neobisnuita prospetime natura feminina: misterioasa ("she never kept the same adress"), eleganta ("perfume came from Paris") si distinsa ("in conversation she spoke just like a baroness"), dar vesela si jucausa totodata ("playful as a pussycat").
