Universul albumului Queen II este, cu siguranta, cel al povestilor, al mitologiilor de inspiratie medievala, populare in tinutul in care s-a nascut legenda Cavalerilor Mesei Rotunde (Ogre Battle, White Queen, Seven Seas Of Rhye, The March Of The Black Queen...). Alegerea unui astfel de spatiu de miscare este, poate, surprinzatoare pentru o formatie aflata abia la al doilea album, dar nu este mai putin o dovada a originalitatii care i-a caracterizat mereu pe cei de la Queen si a unei conceptii asupra muzicii care avea mereu in vedere unitatea stilistica a albumului.

Una din piesele de succes de pe acest album este si Ogre Battle, un rock puternic si viguros compus de Freddie. Versurile plaseaza actiunea intr-un loc cu parfum de poveste ("mirror-mountain"), idee subliniata si de formula introductiva: "now once upon a time" (echivalentul lui "a fost odata" din povestile noastre). Daca textul descrie lupta cu un capcaun ("ogre"), si muzica se potriveste, fiind un hard-rock dinamic cu un solo de chitara inainte de ultima strofa.
