Care poate fi sensul vietii intr-o lume careia simti ca nu-i apartii ("there's no time for us, there's no place for us") si ce sentiment poate zgudui sufletul prins in lanturile perisabilitatii materiale ("what is this thing that builds our dreams")? Ca dorinta mai mult sau mai putin recunoscuta, ideea de viata vesnica traieste in mintea fiecarui om, inca din cele mai vechi timpuri ale istoriei umane.

Dar daca raspunsul la intrebarea din titlu, "who wants to live forever", este evident: toti oamenii vor sa traiasca vesnic, la cea de-a doua intrebare, pusa cu un accent si mai sfasietor, raspunsul este mai greu de dat: "who dares to love forever?". Si o indoiala se insinueaza dureros: "love must die"...

Melodia, in aceeasi cheie liric-ametitoare dominanta in albumul A Kind Of Magic, cu o nota de tristete, revine acum cu un fior de speranta si, intr-un crescendo luminos, capata acorduri triumfale... Nu, iubirea nu poate muri! Ea sterge cu duiosie urmele suferintei ("touch my tears with your lips"), intr-o unire neconditionata si pura a doua inimi si doua fiinte, indestructibila: "and we can love forever!" Si iubirea, ca sentiment sublim, cel mai inalt, apropie omul cu un pas de nemurire...
