Piesa care da titlul albumului Queen din 1986 creeaza, prin linia melodica discreta si prin ritmul lent, dar usor ametitor, o atmosfera lirica si eterata, care tine de domeniul unei vraji muzicale. Stilistic, muzica se inscrie in nota psihedelica a LP-ului pe care este inclusa; ceea ce impresioneaza la aceasta sensibila balada este senzatia de scufundare in alta lume, in care instrumentele se armonizeaza perfect, aproape ireal. Iar ritmul, sustinut de chitara bas, este inca o dovada a artei bateristului Roger...

Cantecul "fermecat" al anului 1986 este, de fapt, un elogiu al pacii si al frumusetii lumii, cu ajutorul metaforei prin care sunt exprimate plastic ideile- "a kind of magic" (si care NU este un indemn la practicarea magiei de orice fel). Poezia versurilor tine, intr-adevar, de o deosebita frumusete a imaginilor: "one dream, one soul, one prize, one goal, one golden glance of what should be", "the waiting seems eternity", "the day will dawn on sanity" (lumina nu se poate potrivi decat cu sanatatea mentala si sufleteasca a oamenilor). Lumea poate fi mai frumoasa, atat de frumoasa, incat ne-ar putea parea un fel de vraja, ireala- dar aceasta nu este cu putinta atata vreme cat va domni intunericul sentimentelor negative: "this is a kind of magic that can be only one: this rage that lasts a thousand years will soon be done".

Muzica emana liniste, serenitate si pace, iar, la final, basul, care a sustinut toata constructia melodica, isi face simtita prezenta, ca intr-o cadenta a unui concert simfonic.

Si videoclipul acestei piese este reusit, iar imaginile sprijina ideea textului (Freddie danseaza, agitand o bagheta magica, in timp ce ceilalti trei devin din ce in ce mai frumosi). Montajul imbina foarte bine secventele filmate cu o animatie simpatica. Si, cu siguranta, unul din cadrele antologice ale clipului este cel cu chitara magica a lui Brian, din care ies stelute colorate si raze...
