Spre deosebire de celelalte, insa, Was It All Worth It seamana cu un bilant, cu o dare de seama in fata istoriei. Incepand cu o intrebare existentiala ("what is there left for me to do in this life, did I achieve what I had set in my sights, am I a happy man, or is this sinking sand?"), textul continua cu povestea formatiei ("now hear my story"): "we bought a drum kit, I blew my own trumpet", recunoasterea greselilor ("yes we were vicious, yes we could kill", "thought we were perfect"), a greutatilor ("yes we were hungry", "put down our money without counting the cost"), a sacrificilor ("giving all my heart and saul and staying up all night"), a sentimentelor fata de fani ("we love you madly") si a devotamentului pentru munca, trait toata viata ("living breathing rock'n roll"). Peste toate acestea, se ridica intrebarea si indoiala: "Was it all worth it?". Poate nu este intamplatoare aparitia acestui cantec pe penultimul album lansat in timpul vietii lui Freddie. Daca mesajul piesei a trecut neobservat in 1989, interpretarea prin prisma a ceea ce s-a intamplat ulterior indica aceasta piesa ca avand valoare simbolica si afectiva, la fel ca si solidaritatea dintre membrii formatiei: o apropiere intre oameni care stiu ca se vor desparti in curand...

Totusi, melodia nu este trista, ci e construita pe un ritm dinamic de rock si cu o orchestratie variata si originala. Si asta, pentru ca raspunsul la intrebarea din titlu este: "Yes, it was a worthwhile experience. It was worth it!"
